Sticky Tofu Burger

Ingredients
- 1 block tofu 6.5 oz / 185 g, cut in half
- 1/4 cup corn starch for breading
- 1/4 cup avocado oil or oil for frying
For the sauce:
- 1 tbsp gochujang sauce
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp tamari
- 1/2 tbsp miso paste
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
For the burger:
- 2 brioche buns toasted, vegan
- 1 avocado sliced
- 1/2 cup pickled red cabbage
Instructions
- Press the moisture out of the tofu with a paper towel or a tofu press, if you have one. Slice the block in half to make burger patties. Bread in corn starch and fry until crispy.
- For the sticky sesame sauce, add all sauce ingredients with the exception of the sesame seeds. Cook it until bubbles form and the sauce gets really sticky. Now add sesame seeds and coat your crispy tofu with the sauce.
- To assemble your burger, you will need toasted brioche buns, sliced avocado, and pickled red cabbage. Place the sticky tofu on a bun, top it with sliced avocado and pickled red cabbage, and enjoy immediately.
