Crispy Smashed Broccoli
These crispy broccoli bites are the perfect snack for your next gathering! Maybe you have a tried the viral smashed potatoes, but I also highly recommend to make these cheesy broccoli bites for a incredibly delicious snack or side dish. The broccoli is steamed first, then smashed and baked in the oven with your choice of cheese and spices until crispy.

Ingredients
- 1 head broccoli chopped into florets
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup grated cheese i used plant-based from violife
- 1/4 tsp salt or to taste
- 1/4 tsp pepper or to taste
- 1/4 tsp chili flakes optional
Instructions
- Steam the broccoli florets for about 3 minutes, they still should soften, but still have a bite to them. Slice them and let them dry completely.
- Drizzle a lined baking tray with olive oil and sprinkle with your choice of cheese. You can also use a stainless steel baking tray without the parchment paper to make them extra crispy. Distribute the broccoli florets evenly and smash them with a jar or cup. Season with salt, pepper, and optionally chili flakes.
- Bake in the preheated oven at 400 degrees F for about 25 minutes until crispy.
- Let cool for a bit and carefully peel the baking paper off. Break into pieces and enjoy immediately.
